Exotic Fruits and Vegatables Protect More
We need five daily servings of fruits and vegetables, but often we don't reach it. Moreover, it seems that our familiar fruits and vegetables contain less beneficial nutrients than exotic varieties.
During the study the researchers looked at the fytonutrient content. This is important for the health of our eyes, bones, heart, brain and the immune system. These substances help to reduce the chances of a heart attack or stroke significantly. The test results show that, for example carrots include half of beta-carotene compared to sweet potatoes, papaya contains 15 times more beta-croptoxanthine than an orange so these two exotic fruits and vegetables protect much better against the flu.
